The Mariners take its name from the hotel on the River Mersey sea front at Waterloo, seven miles to the north of Liverpool. The club were founder members of the Football Alliance in 1889 and where the members of the North West Counties League Premier Division. The present club was founded in 1953 as Langton FC and have no connection to the club of the same name that was once members of the Football League. Cammell Laird F C is a semi-professional football club in Liverpool based in Birkenhead Merseyside. The teams are currently members of the North West Counties League Premier Division and play at Kirkland’s. The Club played their first match against Tranmere Rovers on 2 September in 1907. The club joined Division Won the West Cheshire League for the 1907-1908s, finishing tenth. Despite finishing the bottom of Division One in 1909-1910, they were not expelled to Division Two. In 1922 a team was entered in Division Two of the Birkenhead and Wirral League Under the Name Kirklands Football Club, and in 1924-25 they were league Champions. The team was disbanded in 1939 due to the outbreak of World War II But reformed in 1946 under the name Cammell Laird Association Football Club.
